The Expos announced Saturday that they have purchased the contract of righthanded pitcher Mike Marshall from the Winnipeg Whips, the International League farm team.

The Expos sent righthanded pitcher Bill Dillman down to the Whips to make room for Marshall on the 25-man major league roster.

Marshall, 27, started the season with Oklahoma City of the American Association.  He was called up to the Houston Astros in June and lost his only decision, to the Expos on June 12.

He was traded to the Whips by the Astros June 23 in exchange for outfielder Don Bosch.  With Winnipeg, Marshall had a 2-1 won-lost record and an earned run average of 2.22.
